It has worked out well for many people on our trips. If, however, we are unable to assign a roommate, you should anticipate that 1-2 months before trip departure, you will receive an additional invoice of $1378 USD from Uncharted Adventures to cover to costs of having a private room (“single supplement”) at all hotels during the trip.

Is Israel safe?

Over the past two years, Israel has faced significant challenges due to ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran. While the region has experienced difficult times, we remain hopeful for peace and are grateful by emerging signs of progress in both areas. We are trusting that this will continue.

At Uncharted, the safety and well-being of our team members remain our highest priority. Our comprehensive and proactive safety plans ensure our teams are well-protected at all times.

To uphold this commitment, we are sharing our precautionary safeguards. If any one of these measures is triggered within a week of our scheduled departure, the trip will be postponed. These safeguards allow us to make well-informed decisions based on reliable information from trusted authorities. The three key safeguards include:

  1. A “Do Not Travel” advisory for Israel issued by the U.S. Department of State.
  2. A “Do Not Travel” warning issued by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism.
  3. Guidance from our trusted partners, including colleagues within the Israeli Defense Forces, advising against travel.

We have similar safety protocols in place for our day to day travels within Israel as well, relying on current information from local agencies.

These layers of precaution reflect our commitment to operating responsibly and ensuring the highest standards of safety for our teams. We are prepared and working closely with all relevant authorities to make decisions grounded in expertise and care. We pray for peace in Israel soon and ask that you join us in this too!

Does Israel require a Visa?

Israel now requires all visitors to apply for an electronic visa or ETA-IL. It is a pre-requirement to receive this visa to visit. Uncharted will send communication on the quick process to obtain one 3 months before departure.

The visa has a $7.00 application fee. You are welcome to apply for one early and submit the application [here].

Passport Requirements

All participants must have a valid passport that will expire no sooner than six months from their scheduled date of return. We recommend you to carry your passport on your person. Be aware, if you are traveling with us to Israel customs may take longer if your passport contains stamps from Muslim majority countries.

Do I need to buy travel insurance?

Basic Travel Insurance is included in your trip price. The insurance provides coverage for illness medical expenses, accident medical expenses, emergency and security evacuation, missed connection, trip delay, and lost baggage/passport assistance.

We highly recommend purchasing Trip Cancellation Insurance. This will provide coverage for trip cancellation, trip interruption, and other unexpected occurrences. Cancellation insurance prices vary based on travelers age, length of stay, etc.  You are welcome to use any insurance company you would like.

We have partnered with TRAWICK insurance and coverage can be purchased during registration, or afterwards by visiting our registration site on WeTravel. (You can access your booking using the email you registered with.

*Note: Trip Cancellation Insurance must be purchased no later than 21 days prior to trip departure.

Can I use frequent flyer miles for my flights?

Absolutely! However, due to airline rules, Uncharted cannot secure these tickets for you. Please see Flights information on Travel Info page. Your tour cost will be reduced by $1,200 if you purchase tickets on your own.

How much personal money should I bring?

Almost all shops and stores in both Israel and Jordan accept Credit Cards. However, if you prefer to bring cash, we recommend bringing around $250 per person or $500 per couple. This will be more than enough for lunches and to buy souvenirs for yourself and those back at home.

Can I use my phone overseas?

Yes, however there will be additional cost for international calls and data usage. The simplest way to use your phone overseas is to add an international travel pass. Each carrier’s rules are different, so check with your provider. An option to avoid paying for international service is to turn your phones data and cellular network off and communicate by Wifi. The bus is equipped with wifi and all hotels have it as well.

What kind of power adapter will I need?

Israel does not use the same plug sockets that we do in the U.S. Thankfully most devices do not require a power converter, they do however need an adapter to fit the socket. The adapter needed for Israel is Type-C. You can also use a “Universal Adapter” that will work fine. *Note: If you have multiple devices you will be charging at the hotel such as cell phones, digital watch, camera, etc. it may be worth getting a portable power strip to plug all of your devices into.

Trip Cancellation

In the event that I choose to cancel my reservation, or it is cancelled due to reasons outside the control of Uncharted Adventures (including, but not limited to, political turmoil, natural disasters, acts of God, pandemic or epidemics), I will be responsible for any non-refundable expenses incurred for me or on my behalf (including, but not limited to, airfare, airline cancellation fees, deposits, lodging etc.) Uncharted Adventures will strive to refund everything possible if the expedition is cancelled for reasons outside of our control.

Cancellation Fees and Refunds

If you choose to cancel your reservation, cancellation fees will be determined according to the following schedule:

  • 181 days or more prior to departure date, the cancellation fee is the trip deposit amount $100 USD, plus any other costs or administrative fees incurred from transportation agency or hotel.
  • 91-180 days prior to departure date, the cancellation fee is 50 percent of trip cost plus any air costs or administrative fees incurred from transportation agency or hotel.
  • 90 days and less prior to departure date, the entire price of the trip becomes nonrefundable.
